The Daily Mail have revealed that Chelsea’s academy staff are pushing for the club to hold on to rumoured Tottenham target Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham right from the time Ange Postecoglou walked through the door in N17, with some sources alleging over the last two months that the Australian sees the 23-year-old as an ideal replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
This was a claim that was also carried by The Telegraph, who even asserted earlier this month that the Lilywhites had moved into pole position for the England international’s signature ahead of London rivals, West Ham United.
Gallagher has started all of Chelsea’s first three Premier League games of the season and it has now emerged that many at the club do not wish to see him leave.
Chelsea academy staff want Gallagher to remain
The Mail assert that the academy staff at Cobham are not happy that the likes of Mason Mount and Lewis Hall have been allowed to leave the club this summer.
They have allegedly made their feelings clear to the club’s hierarchy and are pushing for Gallagher to be kept at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs Web Opinion
Even though Gallagher might eventually fall down Pochettino’s pecking order, given the signings that Chelsea have made this summer, the midfielder would likely not want to leave this summer as he has started all three matches so far.
Besides, I am not sure if the 23-year-old is as much of a priority for Spurs anymore, now that Hojbjerg’s move to Atletico Madrid seems unlikely to go through.
