The Times have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could still push through a late deal for Conor Gallagher after Chelsea put up the midfielder for sale.
Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs all summer (The Telegraph) but the midfielder has started all three of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season and it has been reported over the past couple of weeks that the Blues are expected to hold on to the player (Daily Mail).
Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher stance has changed
If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, an opportunity has now opened up for Tottenham to complete a late deal for the England international as he has now been put in the shop window by the West London club.
It is alleged that Chelsea are now ready to listen to offers for Gallagher as new signings Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia are expected to move ahead of the 23-year-old in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order.
The publication alleges that Spurs are ‘likely to step up’ their pursuit of the midfielder if they can offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Spurs Web Opinion
It now appears quite unlikely that Hojbjerg is going to depart before Friday evening’s transfer deadline, with Atletico’s interest seemingly going quiet while Man Utd appear to be prioritising a deal for Sofyan Amrabat. So, a late move for Gallager does not seem to be on the cards for Spurs.
