The Telegraph have claimed that a big offer from Tottenham Hotspur could tempt Chelsea into selling Conor Gallagher before Friday night’s transfer deadline.
Over the past 24 hours, multiple outlets (The Times and Daily Mail) have claimed that Spurs could make a late move for Gallagher if they manage to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. It was suggested that Chelsea might be open to offloading the 23-year-old.
However, after captaining the Blues to their 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, the midfielder insisted that he is happy with the way things are going at Stamford Bridge and stressed his intention to keep contributing to the team’s success (Metro).
Chelsea could be tempted into selling Gallagher
The Telegraph have now stated that Chelsea could be tempted to cash in on their academy graduate after having agreed a £45m deal with Manchester City to sign Cole Palmer.
The report asserts that Spurs are indeed weighing up a late offer for Gallagher. However, it is explained that the Blues had turned down a £40m bid from West Ham for the player earlier this summer.
So, the outlet suggests that Tottenham might have to offer around £50m for the midfielder to give Chelsea something to think about.
Spurs Web Opinion
Postecoglou appears to be a fan of Gallagher and I would not be surprised if Tottenham do test the waters with a late offer for the 23-year-old.
However, it remains to be seen if Pochettino would want to let the England international go, given that he has started all four matches for the club this season.
