Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering submitting a fresh offer for Conor Gallagher in the January transfer window, with Chelsea said to be open to selling the midfielder.
Gallagher has started every single game for Mauricio Pochettino’s men this season, even captaining the Blues in their Carabao Cup second-round tie against Wimbledon.
However, questions continue to be raised about the 23-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge, with The Athletic reporting a few days ago that the youngster is ‘more valued for his potential sale price than his on-pitch contributions’ by the West London club’s hierarchy.
Tottenham plotting a return for Conor Gallagher
Football Insider have now claimed that Spurs, who are ‘long-term admirers’ of Gallagher and saw their interest knocked back on transfer deadline day, are now considering reigniting their pursuit of the player in January.
The report states Chelsea are now well-stocked in midfield following the arrivals of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu, with Mauricio Pochettino happy with his options in the middle of the park.
The outlet reveals that they have been informed by a ‘well-placed source’ that the Blues could decide to offload Gallagher due to their current financial position.
It is alleged that Chelsea would consider parting ways with their academy graduate if the right offer arrives in January.
Spurs Web Opinion
I have no doubt that Tottenham will make an enquiry for Gallagher in January, with the midfielder seemingly being quite highly rated by Postecoglou.
I am also convinced Hojbjerg will push even harder for a move as he looks unlikely to get too many starts until January unless there is an injury crisis.
