James Maddison has lavished praise on Destiny Udogie, admitting that the youngster has really taken to the role he has been asked to play at Tottenham.

Udogie has hit the ground running in the Premier League, having adapted seamlessly to the intensity and the physicality of the competition, and to the tactical demands of the inverted full-back role in Ange Postecoglou’s system.

The 20-year-old showed just how high his ceiling is by the way he dealt with two of the best players across the Premier League in Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah in the clashes against Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.

The Italy Under-21 international has come in for plenty of praise over recent weeks, with Graham Roberts insisting that he could become a £100m player while Micky Hazard has backed the youngster to evolve into the best left-back in Tottenham’s history.

James Maddison is a big fan of Destiny Udogie

Maddison has become the latest to praise the left-back to high heavens, admitting that the former Udinese man has hardly any weakness.

The 26-year-old told Football London: “Destiny is just a beast, man. He’s so good.

“When I talk about learning and adapting with the manager’s new style, him playing inside is not natural to him. He’s still working on that himself.

“He’s actually better on the ball and he can take the ball and dribble in the middle of the pitch and open it up for us. He’s got good receiving skills and he’s so powerful and so good.”

The most exciting thing about Udogie is the fact that he is only 20 years of age and is nowhere near his ceiling as of yet. There is no doubt that he has the potential to develop into one of the best in the world in his position over the next few years.
