The Times have revealed on their live transfer blog that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to return with an improved offer for Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.
Fabrizio Romano was the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in Kelly, with the journalist claiming on Thursday afternoon that the Lilywhites are eyeing a late move for the centre-back.
He suggested that Spurs could include Eric Dier as a part of the operation to bring the 24-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, this morning The Athletic revealed that Tottenham had made a straight £20m cash offer for Kelly, which was turned down by Bournemouth.
The publication explained that the lack of time to be able to find a suitable replacement was one of the factors in the Cherries turning down the bid.
Spurs expected to try again for Lloyd Kelly
If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, Tottenham have not admitted defeat in their pursuit of Kelly.
The outlet alleges that the North Londoners are soon expected to return with an improved offer for the versatile defender, who can also feature at left-back.
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that we are moving for Kelly, who is a left-sided centre-back, suggests that Tottenham expect Dier to leave before the transfer deadline.
With Sanchez and Tanganga also evidently on their way out, I would not be surprised if Spurs made a move for another right-sided centre-back before the window shuts.
