Arsenal will take on Tottenham for the second time in just 17 days as the two North London sides square off at the Emirates on Wednesday night, with a place in the final four of the Carabao Cup at stake.
With Liverpool and Manchester City continuing their fine form in the Premier League, this competition represents a realistic chance for both Arsenal and Spurs to get their hands on some silverware this season.
Unlike his predecessor, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has vowed to name a strong side and has said he won’t risk playing too many youngsters. Speaking ahead of the game, the 47-year old Spaniard said, “Our first idea is that we play with better players. You cannot use [too many young players] in this derby because the opposition is a very big opposition and this demands from us a big performance tomorrow.”
“We can [maybe] use some young players because we think they can give a big performance and can help us to win tomorrow.”
Spurs will be out for revenge after the Gunners outplayed them comfortably, coming out 4-2 winners a little over a fortnight ago. As with any North London Derby, the game means a lot for both sets of fans, and with both managers stating their intention to progress to the next round, the stage is all set for yet another classic on Wednesday night.
Hopefully Spurs will come out on top with the bragging rights.
