Tottenham Hotspur will come up against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, with a place in the quarter-final at stake. This is the third season in a row that the teams are coming up against one another but the stakes in this tie are much higher than in previous seasons.
Both Spurs and BVB have had a really good start to the season and if they continue in a similar vein, this is likely to be a cracker of a tie. Former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Danny Mills reckons that Spurs have their work cut out if they want to progress to the quarter-final of Europe’s premier club competition.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “They (Dortmund) are playing very, very well. Good, attractive football, high tempo. They will be very difficult to play against. In the second game, in Dortmund with their fans, it’s going to very, very difficult for Tottenham.”.
However, Mills reckons Tottenham do have it in them to come out on top provided they are at the top of their game. He added, ” It’s winnable still. You don’t look at it and think it’s an impossible task. If Tottenham play well, and we have seen them on their day, they can be absolutely outstanding. If they can play to their very, very best, they have a great chance of still going through.”
It will be interesting to see how the games pan out in what is certainly one of the ties of the round.
