Tottenham Hotspur’s new 62,062 capacity stadium looks like it is pretty close to completion after the club allowed 6,000 fans to get a feel of the stadium during a familiarisation event held on Sunday. On the whole, the fans who were lucky enough to get a sneak peek into the stadium seemed to absolutely chuffed with the quality of the facility.

While the stadium boasts of several unique design features including a retractable pitch, the largest single tier stand in the UK, and a massive goal-line bar, what really captured the fans attention was the work that had gone in to make sure the stadium felt like home.

Prominent among these was a ‘Wall of Nostalgia’ where Tottenham match day programmes dating back several decades were displayed, thus giving a reminder of the fond memories generations of fans hold of White Hart Lane. The classy gesture was certainly well received by Spurs fans. Check out the video one fan made of the ‘Wall of Nostalgia’ below:

Additionally, the point where the center spot of the old White Hart Lane stood has also been marked out on the floor of the new South Stand.

Besides this, the club has also used the crushed aggregates of White Hart Lane’s foundations, while laying the concourse floor and have also used the bricks from the old East Stand in the new Shelf bar. These classy touches ensure that Tottenham’s new stadium won’t just be another one in a long line of soulless bowls, but rather contain the weight of history behind it.

Tottenham fans will be waiting with bated breath for confirmation from the club on when the move in date to the new stadium will be. Looking at the level of progress, the wait isn’t likely to be a long one.
