Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, as long as a move to a ‘super club’ like Real Madrid or Barcelona does not become an option.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Romero seems to be evolving by the minute, with the latest reports from Italy suggesting that Davinson Sanchez could join Atalanta as a part of a deal to bring the Argentine international to Spurs.

Corriere dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Tottenham might find it hard to convince Romero to join the club, alleging that the defender had told Fabio Paratici that he was not interested in a transfer.

However, that is certainly not the reality if Gold’s latest update is to be believed. The journalist has now explained that Romero is keen on joining Tottenham as long as a move to one of the ‘super clubs’ such as Barcelona or Real Madrid is not an option for him.

He added that Atalanta are likely to demand a hefty price for the defender and that negotiations are likely to prove complication.

Gold alleged, however, that Paratici firmly believes Romero is the man to help solve Tottenham’s defensive crisis.

Fabrizio Romano seemingly backed up the claim about Romero being open to joining Spurs this evening when he revealed that Tottenham had agreed personal terms with the player.

Paratici certainly seems to have been handed a free reign by Daniel Levy when it comes to footballing decisions, as was apparent from Nuno’s appointment. So, if Romero is the centre-back that Paratici desperately wants, I do suspect that the Italian will get the deal over the line.
