SportItaliaTV journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to make an enquiry for Juventus centre-back Cristian Romero this summer.

Romero joined Atalanta on a two-year loan deal from Juventus last summer and the centre-back enjoyed an impressive campaign at the back for Gian Piero Gasperini’s last time out.

The defender also played a key role in Argentina’s historic Cope Ameria campaign, proving solid at the back for Lionel Scaloni’s side through the tournament.

Calciomercato revealed a few days ago that Atalanta have the option to sign the defender permanently for £13.7m and could do so this summer before selling the defender on for a profit.

Tottenham were named in the report as one of the clubs interested in Romero, with Atalanta said to value him at around £52m.

Longari has now revealed that Spurs and Barcelona have both made enquiries for the Argentina international. The journalist added that Manchester United also hold an interest in the 22-year-old.

We have certainly been linked with more than our fair share of centre-backs over the last couple of weeks. Perhaps that is a sign that Paratici is eyeing a major overhaul at the back, with the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez on their way out.
