Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could go after Atalanta/Juventus centre-back Cristian Romero this summer.

If reports over the last few days are to be believed, Tottenham have stepped up their efforts to land Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Additionally, the likes of Jannik Vestergaard and Maxence Lacroix are also rumoured to be on Fabio Paratici’s radar.

Romero is another central defender who has been linked with a move to the North London club recently.

The Argentine impressed on loan at Atalanta last season and reports have suggested that the Bergamo club plan on taking up the option to sign the defender permanently for £13.7m and sell him on for a profit amidst Tottenham’s interest.

SportItaliaTV journalist Gianluigi Longari revealed earlier this week that Spurs and Barcelona had both enquired about the 23-year-old.

Romano has now suggested that Romero could indeed be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

Speaking about Tottenham’s centre-back pursuit, the journalist said on his Twitch channel: “I would keep an eye on Romero.

“I am told he has chances to move to the Premier League, but it will take some days to see where he is going.

“It’s a possibility, I’m sure it’s a possibility.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is anybody’s guess at this point who Paratici’s top centre-back targets are, given the number of players we have been linked with over the last few weeks. Alasdair Gold revealed recently that the Italian likes to negotiate with up to ten players for a single position and that seems to be what is happening.
