SportItalia Tv journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Tottenham could send Davinson Sanchez to Atalanta as a part of a deal to bring Cristian Romero to North London.
Romero, who impressed on loan at Atalanta from Juventus last season and played a starring role for Argentina in their successful Copa America campaign, is one of several central defenders reported to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Some sources from Italy had previously revealed that Atalanta plan on taking up the option to sign the defender permanently for £13.7m and sell him on for a profit amidst Tottenham’s interest.
Football.London’s Alsadair Gold revealed on Monday that Spurs were closing in on a deal for the 23-year-old, with the journalist insisting that the defender was at the top of Fabio Paratici’s wishlist.
However, Longari has now claimed that a deal to take Romero to North London is far from complete, with Barcelona also showing interest in the centre-back.
The journalist suggested that the Lilwhites would like to use the likes of Sanchez as a makeweight in the deal for the Argentina international.

I can see why Tottenham are keen to include Sanchez in a deal for the likes of Kounde and Romero. Firstly, that might give them the edge over other suitors as Sevilla/Atalanta would get a readymade replacement. Secondly, it would also allow the club to cash in on one of the deadwood who they might have trouble getting a suitable fee for later in the window.
