Tottenham Hotspur could step up their interest in Ange Postecoglou, and it is thought the Celtic manager is open to interest from the North London side.
The search for a new manager at Tottenham is not going well, as the club faces yet another arduous process to fill the vacancy left by Antonio Conte two months ago.
Many names have been linked with the position, but many have also distanced themselves from Spurs as the hunt continues.
Arne Slot was thought to be the frontrunner for the role this week, but it now appears the 44-year-old has decided to stay with his current club and will agree on a new deal with Feyenoord (Fabrizio Romano).
Earlier this week, Celtic’s Postecoglou was named on a three-man shortlist by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast.
After Slot seemingly snubbed Spurs, it has emerged that Postecoglou could be a prime contender for the job with the Lilywhites (Miguel Delaney).
Now, the latest from the Irish Mirror suggests the 57-year-old is not against the idea of taking over at Tottenham, but has a cup final to take care of first.
The Australian will lead Celtic into the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on June 3. He has already won the SPL title again this year with the Glasgow side.
It is thought the manager will not be in a position to consider any interest from Spurs until the season is complete and the cup final is out of the way.
Spurs Web Opinion
I’m a big fan of Postecoglou and the way he comes across in press conferences and interviews, but it’s very hard to judge a manager for the work they do in Scotland.
The standard of football and competition up there is so drastically different to the Premier League that we simply cannot take a risk on him, unfortunately.
