Micky van de Ven has admitted that Son Heung-min has really taken him under his wing since he arrived at the club in the summer, remarking that the South Korean has shown tremendous leadership skills both on and off the pitch.
The current Tottenham side is quite a bit younger than the side that Antonio Conte had last season, with several relatively young and inexperienced players in and around the starting eleven.
There is also a new-look leadership group at the club, with Harry Kane having departed and the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris no longer having a prominent role at the club.
Some reports over the last few weeks have indicated that those at Spurs have been surprised by the way Son has stepped up to the plate since being handed the captain’s armband, with the 31-year-old said to be showing a different side to his personality (Football.London).
Heung-min Son has been looking after Van de Ven
Van de Ven has now waxed lyrical about the forward’s conduct and the role he plays in getting the team up for matches.
When asked which player has taken him under his wing, the centre-back said on the new Driving Home With segment on Tottenham’s official channel: “Sonny. It’s important that the captain is not only a real captain on the pitch but also off the pitch.
“On the pitch, he’s clear, straight, cheers everyone up before the game, hypes everyone up before the game.”

The atmosphere and culture of the dressing room is often set by the leaders and the best players in the squad. In that sense, we are really lucky to have such a selfless team man like Son leading us as his humble and hard-working attitude will rub on to the rest of the group.
