Tim Sherwood has told Harry Kane that he will be given his opportunity at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 20-year-old who has come through the ranks at Spurs is third-choice at White Hart Lane behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado. Jermain Defoe’s departure to Toronto will present more opportunities for Kane, who has featured often late on as a replacement.
Kane has yet to score a Premier League goal but has shown glimpses of what he can do when called upon. Some will say he’s a long way off being a regular, but it’s refeshing to see youth being given a chance at Spurs after years of hardly any players coming through the ranks.
Sherwood told Sky Sports: “Harry Kane has done brilliant. Since he’s been back as the third striker he’s been fantastic in training.
“He’s had to be very patient. If I was Harry Kane, I’d be banging my door down every day and saying ‘Why aren’t I getting an opportunity to play’ but he’s respectful enough to know that we’ve got world-class strikers.
“He will get his time.”
