Reports out of Spain right now suggest that Tottenham Hotspur will compete with Aston Villa for the signing of Barcelona star, Ansu Fati, this summer.

It is common knowledge that Tottenham are in the market for another attacker, after Harry Kane departed the club earlier this month to join German champions Bayern Munich.

So far, Spurs have been linked with younger talents like Brennan Johnson (Independent) and Wilfried Gnonto (LondonWorld), as well as strikers such as Gift Orban (CaughtOffside) and Elye Wahi (Foot Mercato).

All those names are fine players, but lack the experience of playing at the top level for club and country. That is something that cannot be said of Barcelona attacker, Ansu Fati.

The Catalan club apparently told Fati back in May that he was free to leave this summer amid interest from various Premier League sides (90 Min). More recently, it was suggested that the player himself was pushing for a move away from Barcelona (AS).

Spurs and Aston Villa fight it out for Ansu Fati

Now, the talk surrounding Fati’s future has intensified. According to El Chiringuito journalist, Jose Alvarez Haya, the race for the Spaniard is between Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Apparently, Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been touting his client’s services to various clubs and it seems the Premier League pair are keen. Haya claims it will take €50m to secure Fati’s services.

Meanwhile, the latest edition of Marca (via Sport Witness) corroborated the claims that Fati could be on his way to England. However, with Barca desperate to reduce their wage bill, it is suggested the La Liga outfit could be willing to explore either a sale or a loan move.

On his day, Ansu Fati is a phenomenal talent. However, his injury issues are a major concern and I just can’t see him being worth the money or the risk.
