Football Insider claim that Aston Villa have now cooled their interest in Giovani Lo Celso.

Heading into the final week of the transfer window, Lo Celso’s future continues to be the subject of much speculation, with both Barcelona and Real Betis mooted as destinations for the Argentine.

AS journalist Javi Miguel reported a few days ago that Xavi Hernandez had asked the Barcelona hierarchy to make one final attempt to sign the Spurs star following the injury sustained by Pedri.

Meanwhile, Rudy Galetti claimed on Thursday that Real Betis had made advances towards a late loan deal for Lo Celso, with Tottenham said to be insisting on adding an obligation to buy.

Aston Villa are no longer in the Lo Celso race

The door seems to have been shut on one particular destination for the midfielder, with Football Insider now claiming that a move to Villa Park no longer appears to be an option for the player.

The report explains that Lo Celso was a favourite of Unai Emery, which is why the Villans showed interest in the player earlier this summer.

However, following the arrival of Nicolo Zaniolo on loan, it is alleged that the West Midlands club have now cooled their interest in the 27-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

As things stand, Lo Celso looks overwhelmingly likely to stay but things can change quite quickly in the final part of the transfer window.

If Tottenham can deal for Brennan Johnson over the line and they receive a lucrative offer for the Argentine, I can see the North London club being tempted to accept it.
