Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa are weighing up a potential move for Clement Lenglet, although the centre-back has multiple options in the final days of the window.

Jijantes FC also reported that Lenglet could return to the Premier League this week, but not with Tottenham Hotspur.

Mundo Deportivo relayed earlier in the week that Clement Lenglet is now considering other options apart from Tottenham, with the centre-back even said to be open to a late switch to Saudi Arabia.

The report stated that Tottenham have been at the front of the queue for Lenglet for much of the summer but have not been able to strike an agreement with Barcelona for the player’s transfer.

While other clubs are also said to be interested in the 28-year-old, the salary he currently earns at Camp Nou is said to be a deterrent for many of those teams. A move has thus been stalling for the Frenchman despite Barca’s desire to offload him.

Now it appears Aston Villa could enter the race for the French central defender after the injury to Tyrone Mings at the start of this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Tottenham to offload Sanchez and Tanganga over the coming days and bring in one decent centre-back. However, I do not think that player is likely to be Lenglet. The only way I can see Spurs making a late move for the Frenchman is if they are also successful in moving Eric Dier on.
