Sky Sports Football Daily have now claimed that Tottenham’s pursuit of Ansu Fati may not be completely dead despite Brighton’s advances for the player.

On Sunday, several Spanish outlets suggested that Spurs were leading the race for Fati’s signature and that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, was working to finalise his switch to the North London club (Mundo Deportivo).

However, it emerged this morning that Brighton had agreed to a deal with Barcelona to sign the 20-year-old on a season-long loan, with Fabrizio Romano even giving his ‘here we go’ seal of approval to the transfer.

The journalist suggested that the versatile forward is expected to arrive in England today to complete his medical ahead of his switch to the Amex Stadium.

Spurs still have hope of signing Ansu Fati

However, Sky Sports have now stated that while Fati is indeed flying to the UK today, the Seagulls have not yet fully concluded the deal.

The outlet claims that Tottenham continue to remain in talks with Barcelona over a deal for the Spain international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Fati would not be travelling to England for a medical unless Brighton had already agreed on a deal with Barca. So, I’m quite sceptical of this update from Sky.

If it is true that no option to buy is expected to be included in the deal, I can see why Tottenham would have pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old.
