Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have begun work on a potential deal to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
It has widely been reported over the past couple of weeks that David Raya is Tottenham’s top target to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris but we relayed a report from 90 min recently, which claimed that Spurs are prepared to turn their attention to other alternatives.
The publication claimed that the Lilywhites had informed Raya’s representatives that since Brentford are not willing to lower their asking price, they are now set to analyse the other options on the market.
The report named Mamardashvili as one of four other goalkeepers on the wishlist of the North London club.
Romano has now also taken to social media to confirm the same, stating that Tottenham consider the Bees’ £40m asking price to be too high.
The journalist asserted that Spurs have now ‘started contacts’ over a deal for Mamardashvili and want to find out the conditions that would have to be met to snap up the Valencia number one.

Mamardashvili is clearly one of the best goalkeeping prospects in Europe and at 22 years of age, he could potentially be our number one for over a decade if we snap him up this summer.
However, with the Georgian international having four years left on his contract at the Mestalla, he is unlikely to come cheap either.
