Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea are expected to part ways with rumoured Tottenham target, Trevoh Chalobah, in January.
It was reported by Sky Sports on transfer deadline day in the summer that Tottenham were “exploring a possible late deal” for Chalobah and that they had made “initial contact” with Chelsea over a potential deal for the 24-year-old.
However, the move did not materialise at the time and it was subsequently reported by Football London last month that Spurs could reignite their interest in the English centre-back in January.
The outlet claimed that the 24-year-old is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and that the Lilywhites are ‘long-term admirers’ of the player.
January exit now expected for Trevoh Chalobah
Romano has now taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal that both Chelsea and Chalobah expect to go their separate ways in January, with the player keen on getting regular game time.
The journalist adds that Bayern Munich continue to have their eye on the centre-back after exploring a move for him in August while other clubs are also in the race.
Spurs Web Opinion
My feeling back in the summer was that Spurs explored a move for Chalobah as an emergency option after deals for the likes of Llyod Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo fell through. So, the Chelsea star does not appear to be on the top of Tottenham’s wishlist.
