Cristian Romero’s agent Furio Valcareggi has dubbed the defender the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo of defending’ and urged Tottenham to sign him ‘immediately’.
Over the last few days, it has become clear that Fabio Paratici has been locked in talks with Atalanta for Romero but Alasdair Gold has warned that the negotiations for the defender may prove complicated.
That certainly seems to ring true if some of the latest reports from Italy are to be believed, with the Serie A club said to have rejected an offer of €45m (£38.4m) including bonuses from Tottenham for the 23-year-old.
Some sources have even suggested that Paratici has offered €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez for the Argentine international.
Tottenham have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Romero ahead of the potential transfer (Fabrizio Romano).
Spurs fans can take heart from Valcareggi’s latest remark as the Italian agent spoke in glowing terms about his client’s ability, suggesting that he could shore up Tottenham’s backline for the next decade.
He told TuttoMercatoWeb: “He’s (Romero) a great player, very good. Prandelli, who coached him, said he has never seen a player so strong.
“If I were in Paratici and Tottenham would take him immediately. You fix your defence for 10 years. As if you take Koulibaly, he fixes your defence in one shot. He is the Ronaldo of defence.”

Prandelli’s statement might be hinting at the fact that there is just a slight distance between the two parties. Based on the reports, it sounds like it would certainly involve a significant financial outlay on the 23-year-old which is rather surprising considering that we are yet to really cash in on any of our deadwood.
