Alasdair Gold has revealed that Manor Solomon’s latest injury has not been sustained on the same knee that he had an issue with for much of last season.
Earlier this week, Tottenham were hit with the bad news that Solomon faces an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury (Raz Amir).
The news came as a particularly big blow given the fact that Ange Postecoglou is already short of options in attack, with the likes of Ivan Perisic and Brennan Jonson unavailable at the moment (The Athletic).
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas revealed on Wednesday that the Israeli international is not expected to be back until the turn of the year.
The journalist stated that the 24-year-old is bitterly disappointed with the news as he was loving life under Postecoglou but he remains determined to come back stronger.
Manor Solomon has not injured the same knee
Solomon also missed a big chunk of last season with a knee problem but Gold has explained that it is not a recurring issue, pointing out that the winger has not injured the same knee on this occasion.
The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast: “From what I understand, it was just the most innocuous moment in training.
“This was, I think, just a moment of normal training. I don’t think there was anything that happened to him. Just one of those moments where fates conspired.
“And Manor Solomon, who’s had a really bright start to the season, just obviously has tweaked his knee. And now this meniscus needs repairing. The operation’s today. And we’ll find out how successful that is, and what that means in terms of a recovery time.
“From what I understand, I think it’s not the knee that he had an issue with last season at Fulham. So that’s as good a thing as you can get in a situation like this, in that it’s not a recurrence by the sounds of it.”

This is certainly a positive as if it were the same knee, it could have indicated a potential chronic problem, with Solomon very much reliant on his explosiveness and pace.
