According to ESPN, Ange Postecoglou has now set a new record for the most points earned by a manager in their first nine Premier League matches after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win against Fulham.

Tottenham delivered an outstanding first-half display, pinning Marco Silva’s men back and creating several guilt-edged chances.

Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead on 36 minutes with a well-directed finish into the top corner after the home side won the ball high up the pitch.

The Lilywhites would have been disappointing to go into the interval with just a one-goal lead as they missed several opportunities to put the game to bed.

However, that did not come back to bite Tottenham as James Maddison slotted home in the 54th minute after another high turnover, with the strike putting the game beyond the Cottagers.

Postecoglou is breaking records at Tottenham

The result means that Spurs have now amassed 23 points, which is the record tally for a new manager after nine Premier League matches.

Postecoglou surpassed the previous record of 22 points jointly held by Mike Walker and Guus Hiddink from their first nine matches in charge of Norwich City and Chelsea respectively.

Even Postecoglou would not have expected this sort of start in his wildest dreams, given that he has historically been a slow starter at clubs and the fact that Tottenham lost their talisman in Harry Kane in the summer. This is an outstanding achievement by the Australian, who will be keen for the team to continue their momentum and build on this good start.
