According to The Birmingham Mail, Spurs striker Vincent Janssen is set to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window, after being ‘frozen out’ of the squad in North-London.

The Dutch forward signed for Spurs for some £17 million in Summer 2016, but only scored 6 goals in 38 appearances in his debut season at the club, just 2 of which coming from open play.

After struggling to adapt to English football, the striker, who scored 29 goals for AZ Alkmaar the season before last, is now understood to have been ‘frozen out’ of proceedings at Spurs, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy brought in experienced forward Fernando Llorente on transfer deadline day last week, while also attempting to loan Janssen himself out to Premier League new-boys Brighton, which eventually fell through.

It has long been reported by The Sun that the Dutch international is determined to prove his worth at Spurs as evidenced by his refusal to entertain the idea of a temporary stint at Brighton.

However, Janssen was also left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, which means the 22 year old can only realistically hope for game-time opportunities in the League Cup.

Having brought in another striker and omitting Janssen from Tottenham’s UCL squad, it seems apparent that the senior management at Spurs lacks confidence in the young forward’s ability to even play as second-fiddle to two-time golden boot winner Harry Kane.

According to The Mirror, although they agree that Janssen is keen to stay at Spurs, his time at the club may come to an end in January, as Levy seeks to recoup the £17 million spent on the 2016 Summer signing, with Stoke City and West Brom reportedly interested.

Do you have faith in Janssen’s ability to come good in the end? Or do you think the Dutchman is a must-sell?
