Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head in a battle to sign Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson in the summer of 2024.
Evan Ferguson has shot to stardom this season after an impressive campaign for the Seagulls. The 18-year-old has bagged ten goals in 23 appearances for the Brighton first team this year (Transfermarkt).
Brighton have been flying high all season and have European football to look forward to next season. Nevertheless, big clubs are circling their top stars after an eye-catching campaign.
Tottenham have been linked with Ferguson previously, as the club sees the Irish marksman as a natural replacement for Harry Kane (Daily Mail).
It was announced the player had put pen to paper on a new deal with Brighton last month, which will tie him to the South Coast club until 2028.
That hasn’t deterred the likes of Spurs and Man United, however, who see Ferguson as a top transfer target for next year according to a report from Sky Sports.
Both clubs have identified the talented youngster as a “strong candidate” to reinforce their attacks for the “long term.”
It is thought the clubs have already “laid down groundwork” to sign him next summer.
The report claims Ferguson is “front and centre” for Tottenham as they look to the future and what life without Harry Kane will look like.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are believed to be keeping a close eye on Ferguson, too. It is suggested the Brighton man has been named as a potential solution should Erling Haaland ever leave the club.
Spurs Web Opinion
I’ve been very impressed by Evan Ferguson this season and he is a player we should do everything to try and sign as our next long-term frontman.
There will be intense competition to sign him, but hopefully we can beat the Manchester clubs by offering him the chance to be our main man up top.
