Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now set to submit their first official offer for Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario which is expected to ne accepted.

Until a couple of days ago, all indications were that David Raya would be the one to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris but it was reported by 90 min on Tuesday that Tottenham had turned their attention to other alternatives due to Brentford’s unwillingness to lower their £40m asking price.

The outlet named Vicario as one of the alternatives on Spurs’ radar but it was explained that the Italian was also wanted by the likes of Juventus, AS Roma, Fiorentina and Inter Milan.

However, Spurs seem to have made a lot of progress in their pursuit of the 26-year-old, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting yesterday that the North London club had reached a verbal agreement with Empoli and that an offer could soon follow.

Romano has now taken to social media to state that the Lilywhites are now set to submit a €19m (£16.3m) offer for Vicario, having already agreed personal terms with the goalkeeper.

Spurs Web Opinion

The speed at which this transfer has seemingly moved over the last couple of days has been quite astounding.

It suggests that Tottenham had already laid the groundwork for a potential deal and turned towards Vicario as soon as they realised that Brentford were not going to relax their stance regarding Raya.
