Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make an approach for James Maddison once they get a deal for Guglielmo Vicario over the line.
It now appears as if Vicario is set to be the first new face to arrive at Hotspur Way this summer, with Tottenham said to be confident of finalising a €19m (£16.3) deal for the Empoli goalkeeper soon (Football.London).
There has been plenty of speculation linking Maddison with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks and Romano has now taken to social media to indicate that the Lilywhites are now expected to turn their attention to the attacking midfielder, while a central defender is also on the agenda for the club.
Spurs expected to make Maddison move soon
The journalist explained that Ange Postecoglou has already approved Maddison as a key target, with Spurs planning on making an approach for the 26-year-old over the next few days.
Romano adds that Newcastle United also remain in the mix to snap up the former Norwich City man.
Not just new centre back as priority. Tottenham are still working hard on James Maddison deal as they plan to insist in the next days despite Newcastle being in the mix. ⚪️ #THFC

Spurs Web Opinion
It appears as if Maddison and Edmond Tapsoba are Tottenham’s two priority targets for the attacking midfield and centre-back roles.
However, as we saw with the David Raya pursuit, things can change quite quickly.
I do not think Spurs will hesitate to move on to other alternatives if Leicester do not lower their valuation of Maddison.
