AS have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur continue to eye a move for Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou despite already signing Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.

Vicario arrives at Tottenham on the back of two exceptional seasons in Serie A, with the Italian expected to take the number one shirt from Hugo Lloris, who has been backed to depart the club following eleven years in North London (Telegraph).

Spurs looking at another keeper in Yassine Bounou

However, according to the latest update from AS, Spurs might not be done strengthening between the sticks just yet, with the Lilywhites also said to be exploring a move for Bounou.

The 32-year-old has been extremely consistent between the sticks for Sevilla over the last few years and his stock grew even further owing to his brilliant displays for Morocco at last year’s World Cup.

The report names Spurs and Inter Milan as the two leading contenders to snap up the goalkeeper, who is said to be valued by Seville at €20m (£17m).

It is alleged that Bounou is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia but he intends to continue playing in Europe for the time being.

The only way this could be true is if Spurs are considering Bounou as a backup to Vicario. However, the notion that the club would pay £17m for a number two seems far-fetched.

Besides, the Moroccan is not likely to accept being an understudy. I expect Forster to remain as a backup for one more season before leaving the club next summer.
