ASRomaLive.it have claimed that Roma are concerned about Tottenham Hotspur making an approach for their general manager Tiago Pinto, with the North London club now thought to be on the lookout for a new sporting director.
Scott Munn officially began his work as Spurs’ chief football officer last week, with one of his top priorities said to be to find a new director of football to replace Fabio Paratici (The Athletic).
It was confirmed a couple of days ago that Spurs chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini, who played a key role in the club’s summer recruitment after Paratici’s departure, had left the club, with the decision thought to be linked to the Lilywhites’ search for a new sporting director (Football.London).
Roma now panicking over Spurs interest in Pinto
ASRomaLive have claimed that ‘alarm bells are now ringing’ at the Giallorossi at the news of Gabbanini’s exit from Spurs.
The Serie A club are allegedly worried the Premier League side have shifted their focus to Pinto, whose contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs until the end of this season.
The publication adds that if Tottenham were to swoop for the Portuguese director, it would ‘completely change the framework’ at Roma, which is why the Italian club are paying close attention to the happenings in N17.
Spurs Web Opinion
Scott Munn and Daniel Levy would have compiled a list of potential candidates a while ago and one would expect Pinto to be very much on the list as he is undoubtedly one of the most respected directors in the game.
