Guglielmo Vicario has a lot of respect for Hugo Lloris and says he has learned a lot from the Frenchman so far.

When Vicario arrived through the door at Spurs in the summer to take over the gloves from Lloris, it was widely expected that the former Tottenham captain’s eleven-year stay at the club would come to an end.

However, with the European transfer window now closed, the 36-year-old still remains at the club, with The Evening Standard reporting that those at the North London side were baffled the goalkeeper kept rejecting offers despite being informed he would not be included in the Premier League squad.

According to various outlets, Lloris is not going to be reintegrated into Postescoglou’s plans, with Spurs likely to terminate the year left on the experienced star’s contract (Football Insider).

Vicario has a lot of respect for Lloris at Tottenham

Vicario, who has made an excellent start to his Tottenham career, has spoken in glowing terms of the legendary goalkeeper, admitting that it has been a pleasure to work with the former Lyon man.

When asked about taking over from Lloris, the Italian told Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge: “First of all, big respect for Hugo [Lloris], for such a big goalkeeper. I think he is one of the stars of the Spurs, it’s a pleasure to learn from him.”

Lloris is evidently respected by everyone at Spurs and would undoubtedly go down as one of the club’s biggest modern-day legends.

It is unfortunate that the goalkeeper’s time at Tottenham appears set to end in a less-than-ideal manner, with the 36-year-old not getting the chance to say a proper goodbye to the fans on the pitch last season, and now looking set to leave through the backdoor.
