Alasdair Gold of Football.London has provided an update on how Tottenham’s seven loan players have been getting on over the past couple of weeks away from the club.
Spurs have a number of their players spread across Europe who will be looking to catch the attention of new manager Antonio Conte.
One player who has bounced back into contention is Metz midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who has played his way back into the starting line-up for the Ligue 1 side.
The 19-year-old spent a couple of games on the bench before heading off on international duty with Senegal, but he started and played the full game in Metz’s 3-3 draw against Bordeaux on Sunday.
Sarr, who has been deployed in a multitude of positions this season, was handed a more defensive-minded role in midfield in the entertaining draw at home.
However, things didn’t go as smoothly for Troy Parrott at MK Dons, who also went on international duty over the last couple of weeks.
The Republic of Ireland striker was forced to miss the League One side’s 1-0 win over Burton Albion on Saturday after the club clarified his absence to be due to ‘Covid-19 protocols’.
Parrott has been enjoying a productive season in front of goal with four goals and assists in 15 games for the League One side, and could see his next appearance come on Tuesday evening with the Dons welcoming Sheffield Wednesday.
Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers has continued to impress up in Scotland for Celtic, with the defender playing his part as the Hoops secured a place in the Scottish League Cup final.
The centre-back played the full game and kept a clean sheet as his team eased aside St Johnstone 1-0 at Hampden Park.
Carter-Vickers has been ever-present for Celtic this season, tallying 16 appearances in all competitions for Ange Postecoglou’s outfit and is expected to line up for the side on Thursday evening for their penultimate Europa League group stage match against Bayer Leverkusen.
Returning to the Football League, striker Kion Etete, who has hit a solid patch of scoring form in recent weeks for Northampton Town, saw his last encounter cut short despite yet another promising performance.
The 19-year-old lined up in the Cobblers’ 1-1 draw with Bradford on Saturday, but was withdrawn at half-time after receiving an elbow to his mouth.
Northampton next face Oldham on Tuesday evening, where it is hoped manager Jon Brady can have the teenage forward back at his disposal.
Should Etete be available, he could face up against Spurs teammate Jamie Bowden, who could return to the Oldham side after missing the 3-2 win over Port Vale on Saturday through suspension.
Bowden, 20, has cemented a spot in defensive midfield for the Latics, and had started in the side’s last six matches in League Two.
It comes after he scored his first professional goal the week prior against Exeter, firing an effort from distance into the top corner.
The final Spurs player away is goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman, who didn’t enjoy a memorable performance last time out with Swedish outfit Degerfors IF.
Although he has managed to claim the No.1 spot as his own for the Allsvenskan outfit, he was on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat at home to Hammarby at the weekend.
Whiteman and his side’s next opportunity to bounce back will come on Sunday as Degerfors welcome IFK Norrkoping.
Spurs Web Opinion
A mixed couple of weeks for the Spurs players out on loan, but that is expected throughout points of the season. There’s still a long way to go this season and, hopefully, they can produce some consistent performances to catch the attention of Conte ahead of next season.
