French football expert, Adam White has claimed that Tottenham midfield signing Pape Matar Sarr could be the club’s own version of Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old put his name onto the map after an impressive debut campaign with Metz last season, playing 22 games in Ligue 1 in the heart of midfield and scoring on three occasions.

His performances captured the attention of Tottenham, who acted in the summer to acquire his services for €18 million (£15.6m).

Spurs sent the midfielder back on loan to Metz for the full season so he can continue his development, meaning he will make the full move to England at the end of the campaign.

Sarr already has two international caps with Senegal to his name and has drawn comparisons to the development of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham, who has taken the European stage by storm in the last year.

Both players could be described as two of the best central midfield prospects in football, and White believes Spurs have made an astute signing in Sarr, adding that he is of a similar profile to the England international.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “I think it’s a really good comparison actually. There’s a lot of parallels between them in terms of their ability and the positions they take up. And their skillset, and the job you would ask them to do in midfield as well.”

Compared to Bellingham, Sarr has been on the scene for a shorter amount of time, but he has quickly made a name for himself with Metz. Although he is one for the future, he could find himself in the Spurs midfield sooner rather than later if he continues developing well.
