According to a report from Fanatik, Besiktas are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur youngster Pape Matar Sarr on a loan deal in the summer and are ready to ‘start negotiations in the near future.

Sarr signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2021 but remained on loan at former club FC Metz for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

Since officially arriving at Tottenham, Sarr has found his game time limited. The 20-year-old has amassed just 12 appearances in all competitions this year, with less than 500 minutes on the pitch (Transfermarkt).

The youngster looked highly likely to leave Spurs on loan in the January transfer window, but former manager Antonio Conte decided to keep hold of him after a string of impressive displays (Sky Sport Italia as relayed by TEAMtalk).

With Conte gone, many players will be wondering what the future holds as a new manager looks set to take over in North London at the end of the season.

Whether Sarr can find favour under a new manager or not remains to be seen, but it appears he will have at least one option on the table in the summer.

Sarr is thought to be on Besiktas’ transfer wishlist for the summer and the Turkish side are eager to “start negotiations” with Spurs to make a loan move happen.

Apparently, Besiktas are optimistic they can nab the young midfielder on a temporary deal and believe they can do so without incurring a loan fee.

Spurs Web Opinion

We’ll just have to see who takes over at Spurs and what they think of each and every player.

If we get a manager who prefers developing young talent, there’s a chance Sarr would have a chance of breaking into the first team more regularly next season. I’d like to see him given more game time.
