The Times have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Aymeric Laporte’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Laporte has fallen down Pep Guardiola‘s pecking order at Manchester City, having started just seven Premier League matches since the season resumed after the World Cup break (Transfermarkt).
90 min reported at the start of last month the centre-back is keen on playing regular football and is thus expected to push for a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The report claimed Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain have both expressed interest in the Spain international.
The Times have now backed up Spurs’ interest in Laporte, stating that the Lilywhites are keeping an eye on the City star ahead of the summer transfer window.
The publication adds that Tottenham are not alone in their admiration of the former Athletic Bilbao star, with the player also said to be on Barcelona’s radar.
The report indicates that City would be open to letting the centre-back leave if he expresses a desire to depart, with Pep Guardiola’s men eyeing RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol as a replacement.
Spurs Web Opinion
Laporte will have no shortage of options this summer if he decides to leave Man City and I doubt if he would be open to joining a club who are not in the Champions League.
Tottenham’s decision on the left-sided centre-back role will be quite interesting this summer, with the decision on Clement Lenglet’s future likely to be left with the incoming head coach.
