The Athletic have claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Aymeric Laporte looks certain to leave Manchester City this summer
It was reported last week by 90 min that Ange Postecoglou had given the Spurs hierarchy the green light to sign a centre-back just days after officially taking over as the club’s head coach.
The publication named Laporte as one of three options on Tottenham’s wishlist, alongside Manchester United’s Harry Maguire and Wolves’ Max Kilman.
The same publication had previously reported on June 6 that Spurs were set to battle Aston Villa for the Man City star’s signature this summer.
Laporte has fallen down Pep Guardiola‘s pecking order, having played just 993 minutes in the Premier League across 12 appearances in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).
Aymeric Laporte looks certain to leave Man City
The Athletic now assert that due to his struggles for game time at the Etihad, the Spain international ‘looks certain to leave this summer’.
Following five-and-half seasons with the Manchester club, it is alleged that the centre-back now wants a ‘change of scenery’.

Out of all the left-sided centre-backs we have been linked with, Laporte would undoubtedly be the best fit for Postecoglou’s style of play.
The fact that he comes with Premier League experience means that he can hit the ground running.
However, the 29-year-old is likely to have plenty of suitors this summer and it remains to be seen if he would be open to joining a club who are not in the Champions League.
