The Daily Mirror have claimed that Manchester City value rumoured Tottenham target Aymeric Laporte at £60m.

It was reported two weeks ago by 90 min that Ange Postecoglou had given the Spurs hierarchy the green light to sign a centre-back just days after officially taking over as the club’s head coach, with Laporte said to be one of the names on the Lilywhites’ wishlist.

The same publication had previously reported on June 6 that Spurs were set to battle Aston Villa for the Man City star’s signature this summer.

The 29-year-old struggled to get starts under his belt last season, with The Athletic stating last week that he ‘looks certain’ to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer.

However, it was suggested by Football Insider a couple of days ago that when Spurs sounded out Laporte, he rejected their approach, with the North Londoners hence turning their attention to other left centre-back targets.

Man City would want large fee for Aymeric Laporte

The Mirror have now suggested that Man City have no intention of letting the centre-back leave on the cheap, with Pep Gurdiola’s men thought to be demanding £60m for the former Athletic Bilbao man even though he only has two years left on his contract.

I was never convinced that Laporte is a realistic target as the 29-year-old would likely want to join a Champions League club.

It appears as if Tottenham have already turned their attention to other alternatives, with Edmond Tapsoba now seemingly emerging as their top target for the left centre-back role.
