According to Corriere dello Sport (07/07/23 as relayed by SportWitness), Manchester City are now willing to sell Tottenham target Aymeric Laporte for around €30m (£25.6m).
It has been well documented that Tottenham are prioritising strengthening at left centre-back, with the North London club now reported to be in talks with Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven (Fabrizio Romano).
It was reported by 90 min last month that Laporte was another name at the top of Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist.
However, Football Insider subsequently claimed on June 23 that the Manchester City star had rejected Tottenham’s approach, and the speculation linking the 29-year-old with a move to N17 has since dissipated.
Man City only want £26m for Aymeric Laporte
However, Corriere have now named Tottenham and Arsenal as Juventus’ main competitors for Laporte’s signature.
The publication asserts that Pep Guardiola is willing to let the Spain international leave now that Josko Gvardiol is on his way to the Etihad, with the Premier League champions allegedly wanting €30m (£25.6m) for the centre-back.
The report adds that Juve ‘have a feeling’ that they would be able to strike an agreement with Man City for Laporte.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is now clear that Tottenham have turned their attention away from Laporte to the likes of Van de Van and Tapsoba.
It is likely that Spurs tested the waters for the City star but were knocked back by the player, who might have been keen on joining a Champions League club.
However, Juve are not in the Champions League either, having finished seventh last season.
So, one would think that Tottenham might have a chance of signing the 29-year-old if the Serie A giants feel they are still in with a shot of doing so.
