Tottenham are considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

The former England Under 21 International has endured a troubled spell at Villa, in which he has struggled to hold down a regular position and has primarily been used as a utility man for when the team has suffered injuries.

Redknapp enquired about Reo-Coker in the summer, but Villa were quoting close to the £8.5 million that they paid West Ham in 2007.

However, the asking price will have dropped significantly after Reo-Coker was involved in a training ground bust-up with manager Martin O’Neill, and is now valued around the £3 million mark, with the midfielder’s contract due to expire in 2011.

This price has also alerted North London neighbours Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger apparently keen to add some experience to his midfield.
