Jan Vertonghen has joked that he is ready to replay the 2019 Champions League final after Jurgen Klopp suggested that the Tottenham-Liverpool game from Saturday should be replayed after the VAR error.
On Wednesday, Klopp shocked many people by suggesting that a replay would be the fair outcome after the miscommunication between VAR and the on-field referee led to the Luiz Diaz offside call not being overruled (Guardian).
It has since been reported that despite Liverpool’s attempts to escalate the issue, the Premier League will not consider replaying the fixture (Football Insider).
When Tottenham were asked about Klopp’s statement, the North London club declined to comment (Sky Sports Football Daily).
Jan Vertonghen is ready to fly to Madrid
Reacting to the Liverpool boss’ statement, some Spurs fans have questioned if the Champions League final of 2019 should also be replayed, given the harsh handball decision against Moussa Sissoko at the start of the game.
Vertonghen has now jumped on social media to say that he is ready for a replay at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion
Expect Liverpool supporters, who are obviously going to be tribal and back their own, I have not seen a single fan or journalist defend Klopp’s statement. There seems to be a universal acknowledgement that what the German said was completely graceless and idiotic.
