James Maddison has joked that Bukayo Saka still has a lot of work to do to perfect the dart-throwing celebration.

Maddison admitted before the game that there had been plenty of banter in the England camp ahead of the North London Derby and even added that the Arsenal players would not be looking forward to playing Tottenham at this time (Sky Sports).

Those words did not go down well with some Arsenal fans and perhaps it also irked a few players in the Gunners dressing room as well, with Saka pulling out the Tottenham man’s trademark darts celebration after the home side took the lead in the first half.

However, Maddison had the last laugh as he turned his England teammate before setting up Son Heung-min for the equaliser in the latter stages of the first half.

The pair would later go on to combine again for Arsenal’s second goal after Saka had restored Arsenal’s lead from the penalty spot.

When asked about the Arsenal star’s celebration, Maddison told Sky Sports after the game: “Yeah, but his action was terrible though.”

Maddison also joked about Saka’s celebration in his post-match interview with Spurs Play, telling the channel: “He must have still been doing it when I turned him for the first goal.”

Maddison and Saka are evidently great friends off the pitch and it is good to see this kind of banter between the pair. The Tottenham man certainly had the last laugh, given his impact on the game and the result.
