According to Fichajes, Real Madrid have now entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez’s goals last season were a key reason behind Feyenoord’s historic Eredivisie triumph and the 22-year-old has started the new campaign from where he left off, having found the back of the net 10 times in seven league games so far.
Last week, 90 min reported that scouts from Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea had all travelled to the Netherlands to watch the Mexican in action this season, adding that they had been impressed by his performances.
Real Madrid now keen on Santiago Gimenez
Fichajes have now claimed that Gimenez has also emerged as ‘one of the great objectives’ of Real Madrid ahead of the January window.
It is explained that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to add firepower to his forward line and the Los Blancos hierarchy have set their sights on the Feyenoord star.
The report alleges that the La Liga giants would have to put in a bid of €50m (£43.3) to lure the striker away from De Kuip.
The outlet also adds that Real Madrid have to act fast as several Premier League sides, including Spurs, are circling around Gimenez.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would be surprised if Tottenham are willing to pay £40m-£45m for a striker who is unproven outside the Eredivisie. For that kind of fee, there are potentially better options available on the market. Besides, I do not think signing a centre-forward would be a priority for Ange in January.
