Journalist Dean Jones has said that Arsenal are eyeing moves for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, who are both rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
A lot has been said and written about Tottenham’s pursuit of a left-sided centre-back over the past few weeks, with Tapsoba thought to be near the top of the club’s wishlist.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday morning that the Leverkusen star remains Spurs’ top centre-back target ahead of Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, with Ange Postecolgou’s men alleged to be continuing talks over a deal for the 24-year-old.
Meanwhile, Guehi also continues to be linked with a move to Spurs, with London World claiming on Wednesday that Palace had put a £60m price tag on the defender amidst interest from Tottenham.
The report added that the England international ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ for the Lilywhites, being young, homegrown and proven in the Premier League.
Spurs and Arsenal looking at Tapsoba and Guehi
However, Jones has now asserted that both Guehi and Tapsoba are also on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist.
The journalist wrote in his column for GiveMeSport about Arsenal: “Across the back line they have also shown a fondness for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi. Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan and – to a lesser degree – Perr Schuurs at Torino.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite clear at the moment that Arsenal’s top centre-back target is Jurrien Timber and their efforts are focused on getting a deal for the Ajax star over the line.
So, I do not think Spurs would need to worry too much about competition from their North London rivals for Tapsoba or Guehi.
