Dean Jones has written in his column for GiveMeSport that Tottenham are keeping tabs on four different centre-backs ahead of the January transfer window.
Unsurprisingly, Jones claims that strengthening at centre-back is one of Tottneham’s priorities in January, with Eric Dier being the only other senior centre-back at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal apart from the two current starters.
Tottenham are looking at four centre-back options
The journalist says that Lloyd Kelly remains a ‘serious’ target and that Spurs have made ‘detailed checks’ on the Bournemouth star ahead of January, with his current deal with the Cherries set to expire next summer.
He reveals that the North London club have also made checks on Trevoh Chalobah, who the Lilywhites consider ‘an intriguing option’.
Jones asserts that Tottenham are also eyeing Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who has been on their radar for a while.
He says that while Spurs remain admirers of the England international, they are aware that his price tag will be ‘sky-high’ and any offer for him is unlikely to be accepted by Crystal Palace at the moment.
Finally, Jones adds that Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura has also impressed members of the Spurs recruitment team and that he will be monitored when he returns from injury.

Out of these four, Kelly would be the most straightforward deal to complete, given his contract situation. Considering how well Van de Ven and Romero are playing, we will likely pursue someone like the Cherries star as a backup rather than a big-name defender like Guehi who would expect to start.
