Ange Postecoglou has maintained his unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, and after securing a win over Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today, he explained why it is so important to perform well at home.

It is now four wins in a row for Ange Postecoglou after his side came from behind to win 2-1 at home to newly-promoted Sheffield United this afternoon.

Any concerns over Postecoglou’s credentials have been firmly dismissed now, and replaced by an incredible excitement and optimism from those connected to Tottenham.

The Australian coach has revitalised Spurs with his commitment to attacking football, and the team are certainly pleasing the fans with their performances this year.

It was a difficult game against the Blades today, however, with the away side taking the lead after 73 minutes. Tottenham left it late to secure all three points, with goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski coming in the 98th and 100th minute.

Winning at home is key for Postecoglou

Speaking to Football.London after the game, Postecoglou reiterated just how important it is to entertain the home crowd and to win football matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When asked about his record of results at home, Postecoglou said: “It’s funny you say that because I do put a big emphasis on that, wherever I’ve been, because ultimately for your supporters, as much you enjoy the away wins because you’ve got to earn every one of them, it’s when they come to their home ground that you want to really reward them.”

And, on the atmosphere at the Spurs ground, he added: “We felt it from the Shakhtar game and the [Manchester] United game, this is only our second home game [in the Premier League], but games like these can go a long way to creating an atmosphere here [at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium].”

Any top side has to become formidable at home and turn the stadium into a fortress, and now that the crowd are firmly behind the team and the manager, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be an incredibly difficult place for away sides to visit.
