Cristian Romero’s actions following Harry Maguire’s own goal during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have drawn criticism.
A cross from Sergio Reguilon which Maguire attempted to clear saw the ball go beyond David de Gea and level the scoreline at 2-2.
While Maguire was still on the floor coming to terms with his error, Romero was seen celebrating in the face of the United defender.
His actions were condemned by Roy Keane, Michael Dawson and Gary Neville who were all part of Sky Sports’ post-match punditry panel at Old Trafford in a game which saw Cristiano Ronaldo steal the headlines with his hat-trick to secure his side a 3-2 victory and leave Spurs’ Champions League hopes in tatters.
Keane claimed that Maguire will not forget what the Argentine decided to do to him.
The former midfielder said: “You remember that when you’re a player, you take note of that. Don’t worry.”
Dawson was equally not impressed, believing that such decisions often backfire: “It comes back to haunt you, things like that. Certainly, as a defender, you make mistakes. Things like that don’t go right. You don’t need to see that, it could be you next week.”

Romero needs to curb his hot-headedness which often finds his way into the referee’s book, on this occasion his decision to taunt Maguire did backfire with Spurs heading back to London without a point to their name.
