Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Inter Milan are closing in on an agreement to extend the contract of rumoured Tottenham target, Alessandro Bastoni.
Tottenham are expected to strengthen in central defence this summer, with TuttoSport reporting last month that Alessandro Bastoni is one of the names at the top of the North London club’s radar.
The report explained that the 23-year-old, who will enter the final year of his contract in June, was making substantial salary demands to sign a new deal with Inter Milan.
This was also backed up by Inter Live, who revealed a few weeks ago that the Serie A club’s contract offer has fallen short of the €6m-€7m (£5.3-£6.1m) salary that Bastoni is demanding.
The publication added that the Nerazzurri could decide to cash in on Italy International for around €55m (£48.5m) if they are not able to reach an agreement with his entourage.
However, Romano’s latest update comes as a blow to Tottenham‘s chances of landing the centre-back, with the journalist taking to social media to reveal that Bastoni is now nearing an agreement with Inter.
He asserts that the parties have settled on a salary of €5m (£4.3m) per season, with the documents set to be signed over the coming weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion
It will be quite interesting to see what Tottenham’s plans would be regarding the left-sided centre-back role this summer.
The decision on the future of Clement Lenglet will likely be left with the new manager or director of football but I do wonder if Even Ndicka’s availability on a free transfer would influence the club’s decision.
