One unnamed football agent has told The Athletic that Tottenham Hotspur could be set to lose Yves Bissouma in the January transfer window.
The Athletic spoke to 18 of the biggest agents in the game to get their take on the summer business that various clubs have done and what they expect to happen in the future.
Unsurprisingly, half of them picked out Tottenham’s acquisition of James Maddison as the best deal of the summer transfer window.
Yves Bissouma’s future questioned by agent
However, one of them gave quite a surprising answer when asked what deal they expect to happen during the January transfer window.
While the one that got the most votes was for ‘Ivan Toney to leave Brentford’ (3), one of them surprisingly said that they expected Bissouma to be on his way out of the North London club.
That is quite a bewildering take, considering that the Mali international has been a linchpin of Ange Postecoglou’s midfield, with the Spurs head coach even revealing that he had asked the 27-year-old to be one of the leaders of the side (talkSPORT).
Spurs Web Opinion
Perhaps the agent in question has some connection with Bissouma’s representatives and knows something that we do not.
I would certainly be surprised if the 27-year-old pushed for a move away halfway into the season, given that he seems to be thriving in Postecoglou’s system.
With the midfielder’s contract running until 2026, I do not see Tottenham entertaining any offers for him in the next transfer window.
