Italian journalist Marco Conterio has claimed Tottenham are edging closer to signing Dejan Kulusevski on loan from Juventus as the club could ramp up interest in Rodrigo Bentancur.
Tottenham are in the process of attempting to salvage their transfer window this month after seeing deals for Adama Traore and Luis Diaz fall away in the last couple of days.
Spurs are said to be in talks with Juventus to sign Kulusevski on a short-term deal until the end of the season with either a loan or obligation to buy clause at its conclusion (The Athletic).
Conterio reports that an exit for the Sweden international, who is contracted with the Bianconeri until 2025, is now ‘approaching’ while Spurs could also move onto trying to secure a deal for midfielder Bentancur.
However, the journalist states the interest comes alongside Lyon, despite the French side allegedly reaching an agreement with Spurs to sign Giovani Lo Celso on loan until the end of term (L’Equipe).
Bentancur has been in high demand in recent days, with The Guardian claiming Juventus turned down a £20.8 million bid from Aston Villa for the Uruguay international.
Conterio’s translated tweet (Google translate) reads: ‘#Juventus unleashed and true protagonist of these market days. Forcing for Denis #Zakaria del #BMG . Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski’s farewell to #Tottenham is approaching, Spurs and #OL strong on Rodrigo Bentancur.’

A couple of bad days for Spurs means they need to salvage something before Monday’s transfer deadline. Kulusevski could be a very smart move going forward considering he has room to grow, while Bentancur is another option to have in midfield. The latter may be a more tricky one to complete, though, seeing as it may be a pricier deal.
